Ukrainian frigate "Hetman Sagaidachny". The well-known military secrets of the frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny" The ship Hetman Sahaidachny raised the Russian flag

Ten minutes is exactly how long the life of the ship lasts from the moment the battle begins. The frigate "Hetman Sagaidachny", the flagship of the Ukrainian navy, a beauty of the sea, not a huge aircraft carrier, but a symbol of an independent Ukrainian country, will not be an exception to this rule. And although the ship is more than twenty years old, he and his crew are ready for their ten minutes. The first ship of independent Ukraine is preparing for scheduled repairs and, despite the end of its service life, plans to continue service for another ten years.

How it all began

The frigate was laid down in October 1990, on March 29, 1992 it was launched, and in June of the same year it received its current name and joined the ranks of the Ukrainian armed forces. Initially, the frigate with tail number 201 was planned as a border patrol ship (project “Nereus” No. 11351, chief designer Alexander Konstantinovich Shnyrov, chief observer - captain 2nd rank Basov Vladimir Grigorievich). Named in honor of the famous hetman Pyotr Kononovich Konashevich-Sagaidachny, who in the Middle Ages conquered the entire Black Sea on light Cossack “seagulls”.

Ukrainian "Nerei"

The frigate “Getman Sagaidachny” is the eighth ship of the “Nerey” project No. 11351, built at the Zaliv enterprise (Kerch). The predecessor was the Petrels (1135), which since the 1970s have earned the reputation of excellent patrol ships. Lightening the armament, changes in hydroacoustics and an increase in displacement to 370 tons made the Nereus an excellent listener with excellent vision and afterburning engines, which preserved the performance of the ship, which since 1994 has had the abbreviation U-130.

Characteristics of the frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny"

The Ukrainian naval ship, designed for submarine search and anti-submarine, anti-air and missile defense, has a hull length of 123 meters, a maximum beam of 14.5 meters, and a draft of 4.7 meters. 56 thousand horsepower and a cruising speed of 60 kilometers (32 knots) per hour are provided by a gas turbine unit and two fixed-pitch propellers. When fully loaded with provisions (displacement up to 3.5 thousand tons), a crew of 200 people can be on combat duty for a month. Travel range at maximum speed is 1600 miles.

Dangerous frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny"

Armament consists of one 100-mm artillery mount and two six-barreled 30-mm artillery mounts with a range of five kilometers. The Osa-MA2 anti-aircraft complex with 20 missiles, mine-torpedo launchers and Smerch-2 and RSL-60 rocket launchers, and a Ka-27PS military helicopter on board - all this adds to the threatening appearance of the frigate. Equipped with modern communications equipment and the Furuno FAR-2117/27 radar, the R-782 Buran communications complex and the MR-114 Lev control system.

Hiking history

In Europe, the Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaidachny was first seen by France in 1994. And in 1995, the ship took part in an arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The first passage across the Atlantic Ocean, when the flagship led a group of ships of the Ukrainian Navy for exercises in Norfolk, USA, took place in 1996; from 1996 to 2000, the frigate called at the ports of Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Gibraltar of Great Britain and Ponta Delgada ( Portugal, Azores), port of Haifa (State of Israel). Three months of participation in Operation Active Endeavor in 2008 showed a decent level of condition of the frigate Getman Sahaidachny and the combat readiness of the crew.

Pirate Africa

In 2013, the flagship carried out the task of inspecting ships on the coast of Somalia in the Gulf of Aden for six months during the Atlantic Alliance's Operation Ocean Shield. The acquired experience of the crew turned out to be so effective that the frigate abandoned special forces and today conducts training for representatives of other countries. In total, the frigate “Hetman Sagaidachny” detained eight ships during that period, on one of which the pirates did not have time to throw their weapons overboard. It all looks like this - the frigate itself comes in from the sunny side, a helicopter comes from the other side, two boats of the frigate take the pirates into a “horseshoe”. Today, in their country, the crew successfully uses this technique when inspecting poaching vessels.

Still Ukrainian

In 2014, the ship was outside the waters of Ukraine and returned to its homeland without Crimea. The ship's registration changed from Sevastopol to Odessa, and the ship raised the state flag of independent Ukraine. 28 crew members defected to the Russian army, but the frigate itself remained loyal to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The ship's cat and the Olympics

The team's favorite is the cat Vaska. The combat flagship cat managed to survive and cope with the local aborigines, even when he was inadvertently forgotten for two weeks on the African coast. Even the cat showed courage and bravery in extreme conditions! And the team hosts entire Olympics on board: with teams, uniforms, flags and emblems. Sailors compete in tug of war, strength events and team volleyball. True, the ball has to be tied to a rope so that it does not end up overboard.

Ship today

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense says that a complete reconstruction of the Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaidachny will be carried out in 2018, and the life of the flagship will be extended by another ten years. In the meantime, the ship is registered in Odessa and continues to serve in state waters. Since May 2017, the frigate has been in the repair shops of the Black Sea Shipyard in Ilyichevsk due to engine failure immediately after Operation Sea Shield 2016, in which ships from Bulgaria and Canada, Romania and Turkey took part.

Sea Breeze - 2017

In July, radio sonobuoys were tested near Odessa during international exercises. They are produced by the state enterprise “Kiev Scientific Research Institute of Hydraulic Devices” of the Ukroboronprom corporation. Highly sensitive acoustic buoys provide a 10-fold increase in the frigate's anti-submarine capabilities. 3.5 thousand military personnel from member countries of the Atlantic Alliance took part in the exercises.

A mixture of metal, glass and rubber - a ship with a predatory silhouette and bristling guns, the frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny" is still extremely dangerous and ready to carry out combat missions. The flagship of the Ukrainian naval forces, consisting of 525 warships and watercraft, it is rightfully considered the first and best combat vehicle.

Alexander Khrolenko, military observer

Ukraine is actively discussing another spy story that concerns the Navy. An employee of a defense research institute from the Boryspil airport abroad provided information about the design of the hydroacoustic complex of the flagship frigate Getman Sagaidachny. At the same time, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) immediately names the country interested in Ukrainian military secrets - Iran.

I think there are a lot of oddities and inconsistencies here. For some reason, the researcher did not archive the specific information in the Internet cloud storage, but carried it in his pocket. And one can only guess why Iran could be interested in a virtually antique hydroacoustic station?

Associations immediately arise: the Dnieper blackmail of American politicians with the possible emigration of employees to Iran rocket manufacturing enterprise"Yuzhmash" and Ukrainian "", almost exported to North Korea. And also the inaction of the SBU at the time of the emigration of the legendary aircraft designer Dmitry to Azerbaijan Kivas, who brought strategic knowledge and experience in organizing high-tech production from the country (fortunately, Dmitry Semenovich does not face a three-year prison sentence).

And yet, to understand what is happening, it is necessary to take a closer look at the weapons and capabilities of the patrol ship (modification of Project 1135), which from birth (at the Kerch Zaliv plant) is the Kirov and the Getman Sahaidachny (after renaming in 1993).

Successful retro project

Developed at the Northern Design Bureau (TsKB-53) in Leningrad in 1972, Project 1135 turned out to be very successful. Cruising range - 4600 miles at a speed of 20 knots. Effective anti-submarine weapons: missile-torpedoes have become a formidable tool for combating nuclear submarines of a potential enemy in combat patrol zones - at a range of up to 55 kilometers and at a depth of up to 500 meters. The series included more than twenty patrol ships (SKR), which were built for all four USSR fleets (in different modifications).

Project 1135 SKR is quite large, has a displacement of 3200 tons, a length of 123 meters, a width of 14 meters, and a draft of 5 meters. Four gas turbine engines allow the ship to reach speeds of up to 32 knots. Crew of 180 people, including 18 officers. The ship is armed with two quadruple 533-mm torpedo tubes, two RBU-6000 rocket launchers, automatic artillery of 100 mm and 30 mm caliber, and an Osa anti-aircraft missile system. However, unlike its brothers in the project, “Getman Sagaidachny” does not have the “Rastrub-B” strike missile system, which allows it to hit enemy submarines (after all, “Kirov” was not built for the Navy, but for the border troops of the KGB of the USSR). Another difference between Sagaidachny is the ability to deploy one Ka-27PS helicopter on board.

The “Naval Symbol of Independent Ukraine” was actively used on campaigns for two decades and underwent scheduled repairs irregularly. In March last year, the 14-million (in hryvnia) tender for the repair of Sagaidachny was won by the Petra plant Poroshenko"Lenin's Forge", that is, the ship's combat capability was to be restored in Kyiv. In May, the frigate was “swindled” at the notorious Shipyard named after 61 Kommunar in the city of Nikolaev, but “Hetman Sagaidachny” broke down immediately after repairs. Today the ship is not combat ready. However, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intends to completely reconstruct it this year and extend its service life by a decade.

Combat use

It is a sad story. Imitation of military secrecy (and the fight against corruption) will not replace Ukraine with modern warships, which did not exist either before or after 2013. In the world ranking, the Ukrainian Navy is in 75th position, between Guatemala (Navy - 10 patrol ships) and Congo (Navy - 1 patrol boat). In fact, all Ukrainian admirals command an incomplete naval division (6 units) guarding the water area. Until 1991, such forces were entrusted to one officer with the rank of no higher than captain 2nd rank.

You can demonstrate modernization tricks as much as you like, increase the sensitivity of an obsolete sonar system through the use of helicopter buoys, but the strike weapons of the Hetman Sahaidachny will not change and the combat effectiveness of the de facto border ship will remain the same (533-mm torpedoes operate at a distance of up to 13 km, rocket bombs - up to 6 km). The natural question is: why does the Iranian Navy need such “secrets” (and headaches)?

"Hetman Sahaidachny"- A patrol ship, according to modern classification - a frigate. It was laid down as a patrol ship, project 11351 "Nereus", now the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy. The ship received its current name in honor of Hetman Petro Kononovich Sahaidachny.

On October 5, 1990, it was laid down as “Kirov” at the boathouse of the Zaliv shipyard in Kerch, by order of the naval units of the border troops of the KGB of the USSR. It was the eighth ship in the series. The ship was additionally equipped with active pitch stabilizers. On July 9, 1991, she was included in the list of ships of the border troops, launched on March 29, 1992.

Stamp with the image of a ship

In June 1992, it became the property of the Ukrainian Navy and was renamed. Entered service on April 2, 1993 and raised the naval flag of Ukraine on July 4, 1993. The flag was raised by the ship's commander, Capt. 3rd rank Katushenko V.S. Initially (until July 1994) bore tail number “201”, then U-130. Reclassified as a frigate. Currently it is the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy.

In June 1994 he made an official visit to France, in 1995 he made a business visit to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) for the IDEX-95 weapons exhibition, in the same year the ship visited the port of Varna (Bulgaria) and La Spezia (Italy ). In 1996, he made the first transatlantic voyage at the head of a detachment of Ukrainian Navy ships in the United States to the port of Norfolk. At the same time, business visits were made (twice) to the ports of Gibraltar (UK) and Ponta Delgada (Portugal) in the Azores.

Ship print

In 1996 he visited Poti, Istanbul and Varna. In June 1999, he made an official visit as part of a detachment of Ukrainian Navy ships to Israel at the port of Haifa. In 2000-2004, independently and as part of groups of ships, he visited various ports of Turkey and Bulgaria.

Repeatedly received on board top government officials - President of Ukraine L. D. Kuchma in 1996, 2000, 2001, President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin in 2000, 2001, President of Ukraine V. A. Yushchenko in 2005, President of Ukraine V.F. Yanukovych in 2010 (in 2004 as Prime Minister).

In 2008, the ship took part in Operation Active Endeavor for 3 months in the Mediterranean Sea.

For several days now I have been reading on various resources that the joint exercises of the Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaidachny and two Turkish ships almost led Russian forces in Crimea into panic, and they had to alert the crews of the Bastion coastal missile systems. How true can this be?

First, let's figure out what the Ukrainian flagship is. When it was laid down, “Hetman Sahaidachny” bore the illustrious name “Kirov,” but since it was completed already during the years of independence, it eventually received the name of the Ukrainian hetman. The ship belongs to project 11351 “Nereus”. This project was developed based on the project of patrol ships (previously classified as more anti-submarine ships) 1135 "Burevestnik". The new ships were not intended for the fleet, but for the KGB border forces, so its strike capabilities were initially reduced in favor of expanding its patrol capabilities.

So, instead of the Rastrub-B missile system, a 100-mm cannon is located in the bow of the ship.

And instead of two double-barreled 76-mm AK-726 placed in the stern (or two single-barrel 100-mm AK-100 on the improved version 1135M), the ship received a helipad and a hangar with a Ka-27 helicopter and two six-barreled 30-mm AK-630 anti-aircraft guns .

The remaining armament in the form of two four-tube 533-mm torpedo tubes, two rocket launchers and two Osa-M (or Osa-MA) air defense systems is the same for the base ships and KGB patrol ships. We see that “Hetman Sagaidachny”, due to the specifics of the project (by the way, very reasonable and good), even theoretically cannot threaten Russian troops in Crimea - except perhaps with a 100-mm cannon. Of the Russian ships, the Ukrainian frigate can fight either light forces or, to a limited extent, submarines. The ability to repel a missile attack by the Getman Sagaidachny itself is extremely small, because it is equipped with only two double-boom installations of the Osa-MA2 complex, capable of simultaneously firing only four missiles - this will not be enough to repel the attack of even one modern Russian small missile ship, which is equipped eight Onyx missiles. This is assuming that the Osa will be able to hit new Russian missiles at all, which is extremely doubtful. But “Hetman Sahaidachny” is essentially the only large warship of the Ukrainian Ukrainian Navy (naval forces), against which Russia can field many much more powerful combat units, starting from ships of Project 1135 and 1135M, which are not devoid of strike weapons, continuing with ships equipped with missiles "Caliber"/"Onyx" complexes, and ending with the "Moskva" missile cruiser.

What conclusion can we draw from all this? “Hetman Sahaidachny” is a border ship practically devoid of strike weapons, which simply has nothing to threaten Russia, which has on the Black Sea both similar (but better armed) and much more powerful ships. And the people who write this either understand absolutely nothing about military technology, or they are telling lies in the ears of others. Well, in order to keep up with your opponents, here are the cruisers of the DPR fleet, which terrify the Mariupol garrison.

The frigate “Hetman Sahaidachny” is, without exaggeration, one of the most famous military vessels in Ukraine. Since 1993, this ship has been the pride of the naval forces of this country.

History of creation

The initial idea of building a new ship was related to the need to create a border vessel that could exercise effective control over the territory. When developing the plan for the future frigate, the designers, together with the border guards, took the Burevestnik class patrol ships as a basis. At the insistence of the USSR State Security Committee, a ship project was created under the code “Nereus”. The design of the frigate was carried out by the outstanding engineer Alexander Konstantinovich Shnyrov under the supervision of the chief naval observer, captain of the second rank, Vladimir Grigorievich Basov.

Construction

The model, code number 11351, was brought to life at a ship production plant in the city of Kerch. At this time, a project called “Kirov” was being built. This ship also had a border patrol mission. It was launched in 1992.

It was this unfinished ship that was taken into the Ukrainian naval forces in 1993, was renamed and received its real name - “Hetman Sahaidachny”. The frigate, whose characteristics underwent some changes, was completed under the leadership of Ukrainian engineers. In 1993, the ship entered service and was raised by the Ukrainian military.

Modernization

In the model 1135, which was taken as a basis, certain changes were made. So, for example, instead of a guided missile system that specialized in boat attacks, it was decided to produce a single, but more effective 100-mm artillery mount. Moreover, the stern part of the vessel has undergone impressive changes. The powerful radar station from this part of the ship was moved to the bow. In its place, a runway with a machine gun complex and a hangar for maintaining aircraft was built.

Moreover, the hydroacoustic system has undergone modernization: a new complex was installed under the Ukrainian frigate “Hetman Sahaidachny”, and an acoustic system was also provided for towing. It is worth noting that such innovations affected the dimensions of the frigate. As a result of the changes, the ship's displacement increased to three hundred and seventy tons, but the speed remained at the previous level due to optimization of engine power.

Vessel characteristics

The frigate "Getman Sagaidachny" has a standard displacement of 3200 tons. The total displacement will be about 3600 tons. The length of the ship is 123 meters, width - 14.2 m, and draft reaches 4.8. The frigate can reach speeds of up to 31 nautical knots. The range on such a vessel reaches 1600 at maximum speed. The ship is equipped with power and artillery installations, in front of which are thirty-millimeter machine guns, an anti-aircraft missile launcher, torpedo tubes and rocket launchers. For air attack, there is a take-off pad and a hangar adapted to store one Ka-27 PS class helicopter.

The frigate "Getman Sagaidachny", a photo of which can be found in the article, is also equipped with a radio-technical weapon system, namely the general detection station MR-760 "Fregat-MA", as well as other detection systems such as "Start", "Volga", "Platina" ", "Bronze", "Hosta" and installation of detection of buoy signals and thermal traces. The ship operates the Buran communication system.

The ship's capacity is designed for a crew of more than 100 people.

Vessel activity

During its presence in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the frigate "Hetman Sahaidachny" made foreign business visits several times.

Already at the beginning of its service, namely in 1994, the ship had the honor of officially arriving in France. The following year, the frigate visited a weapons exhibition in the United Arab Emirates, and also called at ports in Italy and Bulgaria.

In 1996, the frigate distinguished itself and made its first passage across the Atlantic Ocean, leading a detachment of Ukrainian warships. In this composition they reached the territory of the United States of America. In the same year, the ship officially visited the Kingdom of Great Britain and Portugal, as well as Turkey and Bulgaria.

In 1999, the ship arrived at the port of Israel. Several visits to the Mediterranean occurred between 2000 and 2004. In 2008, the frigate “Hetman Sahaidachny” took part in a special operation called “Active Efforts” for three months, and from 2013 to 2014 - in an anti-terrorist operation off the coast of the African continent.

By coincidence, during the events of 2014 in Crimea, the ship was outside the event zone, so it was not affected by the fate of other Ukrainian military vessels. The ship was moved to the port of Odessa. Despite the provocations of the Russian media that the frigate Hetman Sahaidachny raised the Russian flag, in reality this never happened.

Command

Throughout the history of the ship, its leadership has changed several times.

From 1992 to 1993, the frigate was under the command of third-rank captain Vladimir Katushenko, from 1997 - Sergei Nastenko, and from 2002 - Peter Goncharenko. In 2002, the ship came under the leadership of captain of the second rank Denis Berezovsky, who commanded it until 2005. After him, control of the frigate was entrusted to Anton Gelunov, and after 2008 - to Roman Pyatnitsky.

Undoubtedly, this ship can be called the pride of the Ukrainian
